My dad told me that my great grandfather Samuel Jones said we had a Civil War relative on his wife's side (Mary Cox). | Comments: | I descend from Samuel Lafayette Coval, born 1858. He married Mary Elizabeth Emery in Monroe County on 4 August 1878. They had two children, Thomas Edgar born 1880 and Laura Lula born 1881. Laura married my gg grandfather James Henry Cooley. They lived in and around Marion County Tennessee and Jackson County, Alabama. I thought William was married to Charlotte, but from what I can see by your research, you have him married to an Elizabeth. I base my assumption on the 1860 census where William Coval is listed with Charlotte, age 21 and Samuel L. age 3. I also think Thomas Edgar Coval married Ida Bell (Strang?). I have corresponded with another researcher who thinks that her Thomas E. Coval is the one mentioned with Samuel L. I visited a church in northern Alabama and an older lady there told me she thought Ida Bell Coval was married to Thomas. Anyway, can we correspond? |
